Clemence Corminboeuf, professor and head of the Laboratory for Computational Molecular Design and a member of MARVEL's Executive Committee, has been awarded the 2019 teaching excellence award from EPFL's Chemistry and Chemical Engineering Section for her outstanding contribution to teaching first year students, in computational chemistry and outreach for children, especially young girls.

“I think that it is wonderful that the SCGC has a teacher who is so passionate about engaging women in chemistry at all levels, from local schools through to European networks," a colleague said in the nomination for the award.  "As a working mother Clémence is a magnificent role model and I would hope that all her additional, selfless and tireless work beyond her outstanding official SCGC teaching commitments is taken into consideration by the award committee."

Prof. Corminboeuf, group leader in Design & Discovery Projects 1 and 3 as well as being on the Executive Committee, is also in charge of equal opportunities questions within MARVEL. You can read an interview with her here.
