We are happy to announce that Tara Niamh Tosic (EPFL, Switzerland), Julieta Trapé (National University of Cuyo, Mendoza, Argentina), Sinjini Bhattacharjee (Indian Institute of Science Education and Research (IISER), Pune, India), Maria Syzgantseva (Lomonosov Moscow State University, Russia) and Chiara Devescovi (Sacred Heart Catholic University, Brescia, Italy) were granted INSPIRE Potentials – MARVEL Master's Fellowships after the October 2018 call. All five women will join MARVEL labs in the coming months -- congratulations!

Three will come for a six-month Master's research project:

  • Tara Niamh Tosic, from EPFL, will join the lab of Nicola Spaldin at ETHZ from March 2019.
  • Julieta Trapé, from the National University of Cuyo in Mendoza, will join the lab of Michele Parrinello at USI from June 2019.
  • Sinjini Bhattacharjee, from the Indian Institute of Science Education and Research (IISER) in Pune, will join the group of Clémence Corminboeuf at EPFL from mid-May 2019.

The two other students have completed their Master's degrees  in recent months and will come for six-month research projects:

  • Maria Syzgantseva, from Lomonosov Moscow State University, will join the lab of Berend Smit at EPFL from mid-April 2019.
  • Chiara Devescovi, from the Sacred Heart Catholic University in Brescia, will join the lab of Alexey Soluyanov at UZH from May 2019.

These five students bring the number of fellowships to 21 since the 2016 launch of the initiative, which involves two calls per year. Take the opportunity to discover the testimonials of some of our previous INSPIRE Potentials fellows here .

The INSPIRE Potentials fellowships aim to empower excellent female students to conduct their Master's research project in simulation and modelling in a laboratory belonging to the NCCR MARVEL. They consist of a six-month 12'000 CHF fellowship (+ 500 CHF for travel + separate coverage of tuition fees and medical insurance (for non EU participants)).

Please note that the next application deadline is 15 April 2019. All the information is available here.
