Sandra Luber receives the 2017 Clara Immerwahr Award

The Clara Immerwahr Award, launched by German interdisciplinary research network “Unifying Concepts in Catalysis“ (UniCat) in 2011, is conferred annually to a young female scientist from Germany or abroad at an early stage of her career (postdoctoral fellow, junior researcher) for outstanding results in Catalysis Research. It is associated with a financial support of €15.000 for a research stay at UniCat and thought to establish close collaborative links with UniCat working groups.  

Dr. Sandra Luber will be honored during a public ceremony on February 10, 2017 at TU Berlin. 

Sandra Luber's current research encompasses the development and application of new computational methods for condensed phase systems, spectroscopy, and catalysis, mainly based on density functional theory and ab initio molecular dynamics. Recent work has dealt with the detailed investigation of complex liquids and functional molecules in the gas phase and on surfaces. Together with PhD students and embedded in the university research priority program “Light to Chemical Energy Conversion” as well as the NCCR “Materials’ Revolution: Computational Design and Discovery of Novel Materials”, she has especially focused on the accurate study and smart design of novel bio-­‐inspired catalysts for efficient solar-­‐light driven water splitting.
