First-Principles Modelling of Defects in Solids - Workshop

Jun 13, 2022, 9:30 until Jun 15, 2022, 17:45, ETHZ

The workshop will take place June 13-15, 2022 at ETH in Zurich. Apart from scientific concerns, the event aims to address environmental issues as well, and the utmost will be done to mitigate the impact of the workshop on the environment.

This three-day workshop will give an overview of the latest advances in the theory and simulation of defects. The event will consist of a set of invited lectures given by internationally renowned speakers, contributed talks, as well as social events designed to foster interactions between participants.

The focus of the workshop, co-sponsored by MARVEL, will be on the methodologies developed for the description of defects in the condensed phases, together with their application to technologically relevant systems. Overall, this event aims at portraying an interdisciplinary picture of the current status of defects physics, and to show how first-principles calculations can be used to narrow the gap between theory and experiment.
