First step towards scientific independence for two MARVEL members!

In mid-August 2017, MARVEL members Marco Gibertini (EPFL) and Vladimir Rybkin (University of Zurich) were both awarded an Ambizione grant by the Swiss National Science Foundation.

Dr. Marco Gibertini, who is currently a postdoc in Nicola Marzari’s group, will carry out his future research on Topology and magnetism in novel 2D materials and interfaces at the University of Geneva.

Dr. Vladimir Rybkin, who is now a postdoc in Juerg Hutter’s group in the University of Zurich, will conduct his research on Condensed-Phase Quantum Chemistry via Embedding Theory at the University of Zurich.

Ambizione grants are aimed at young researchers who wish to conduct, manage and lead an independent project at a Swiss higher education institution. The funding scheme would like to promote researchers from Switzerland as well from abroad. An Ambizione grant comprises the salary of the grantee and project funds. The grants are awarded for a maximum of four years.
